Butterfly Wonderland

Butterfly Wonderland

Scottsdale Arizona boasts the largest butterfly atrium in the United States. My boyfriend recently moved there and we saw it off the side of the freeway while driving one day. We decided to check it out on a Sunday afternoon. We were probably the oldest people there (without kids) but hey, I wasn’t complaining! There were thousands of butterflies and moths from all around the world which made for some awesome photos! I had a great time.. even though it felt like a humid oven!SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-13 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-14 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-12 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-11 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-10 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-8 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-9 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-7 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-6 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-4 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-5 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-3 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-2 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-1 SkyeHighBlog-1 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-28 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-26 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-22 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-20 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-19 SkyeHighBlogbutterfly-16 1 5 4 3 2

The Wave

The Wave

The Wave is a sandstone rock formation located on the Utah-Arizona border. You have to enter a lottery system in order to enter, as only twenty permits are given out everyday. My boyfriend’s cousin entered the lottery and won a permit on her first try, allowing her to bring up to five other individuals. I was lucky enough to be one of them! This is an incredible¬†9 mile trackless hike through the desert.¬†ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage¬†ImageImage

The Hogle Zoo

The Hogle Zoo

So.. I really want(ed?) to buy a new telephoto lens before I go to Kenya this summer. In an attempt to convince myself otherwise, I took my existing telephoto lens to the zoo on my Canon 5d MIII and needless to say.. I may have actually convinced myself otherwise! The photos turned out pretty well.

Oregon

Oregon

I went to visit a friend in Oregon last summer and fell in LOVE. It’s so beautiful there. Deep woods and forest galore! And… friendly duckies!

Bees

Bees

If you know me, you know that I have an incredible irrational fear of bees. So to have accomplished some macro photography of these beasts… I would say that’s a pretty big accomplishment!Image

Woods

Woods

Took an overnight backpacking trip with some friends last weekend. It felt so good to be in nature! I’m so excited for the warm weather and all of the adventures that summer brings.

As the sun was setting, the contrast of these yellowing leaves against the forest background really stood out to me and I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots!
